What with the recent trend towards greener and more energy efficient products (as in hybrid and hydrogen powered cars, increase in usage of renewable energy, recycling etc) we now find that even the data storage industry is wising up to consumer tastes. Hence the eco-friendly HDDs (Hard Disk Drives) by Fujitsu and Logitec (not of Logitech Switzerland fame).

Extreme FFS, SuperSpeed USB: High speeds, high expectations

SanDisk recently announced that it could make SSDs (Solid State Drives) up to a hundred times faster (in certain situations, probably means it will still be significantly faster in all other situations). In other news, the long awaited USB 3.0 specs will finally be unveiled at the USB implementers forum on November 17th 2008. No further delays, fingers crossed.

The Canon 5D Mark II in action

Photographic and camera enthusiasts would be familiar with Canon’s 5D Mark II camera simply because it is one of the first few HD camera’s commercially available. And now we have seen a glimpse of its capabilities and we find it simply stunning. This 720p HD video of the subway and some other scenic/picturesque spots is worth the wait for it to load.

Windows 7 to have improved SSD support, Firefox debuts privacy mode

Microsoft aims to provide better implementation of SSD (Solid State Drives) in Windows 7 and intends to discuss how they will make this happen at the upcoming Windows HEC (Hardware Engineering Conference) 2008. Also worthy of news is Mozilla finally implementing a privacy mode in the 3.1 version of their now relatively well known internet browser, Firefox.

Blackberry ups the ante: Plans to Storm rivals

According to the rumor mill, Blackberry is going to launch their next big device on November 14th. This is not an unexpected move and most people are still looking to see how things will play out before making a decision on which phone/pay-plan/mobile service provider to go with. This could well turn into an all out brawl between the iPhone, T-Mobile G1 and the Storm.
