SL300 Lenovo ThinkPad – A quick flashback

Lenovo’s SL series has been known for its reasonably affordable price and its business oriented features. And undoubtedly, SL300 has got it all. The 13.3 inch notebook is truly an example of a perfect cross between portability and utility.

The SL300 can be owned in $679, though the others in line, the SL400 and SL500 come in a much cheaper range, that of around $499. Not only this, the SL models come with style!. The prominent glossy lid complete with a red LED power indicator in the ThinkPad logo catches the user’s eye.

On the other hand, the SL300 shops with a slowly Celeron 575 processor, a 160 GB disk and just about 1GB of RAM. Rest it consists of standard components like, 1280 x 800 wide screen display, DVD burner, and Intel GMA  4500MHD integrated graphics.

Upgrades in the SL300 include a standard webcam, a interesting fingerprint reader and a Blue-tooth. Lenovo also decided to charge a $100 more if you require a 9 cell battery instead of the standard 4 cell battery. Also one should note that SL300 is available with discrete graphics (NVIDIA 9300M which would then cost around $839)

As far as the standard features go, Lenovo offers three USB slots, Firewire and SD reader, mic/headphone, ethernet, a card slot and VGA out. The SL300 also has an optical drive and dual cursor controllers.

In all, the SL300 is put together very well so durability doesn’t seem to suffer as from a shift from the orthodox ThinkPad format.
